The Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce celebrated a successful 2011 and then kicked off 2012 at the annual meeting held at The Embassy Suites on Friday, January 27, 2012. Hundreds of people attended in support of the chamber and its efforts on behalf of the business community and the contribution it makes to the quality of life not only for its members but for the entire community.
This was a great opportunity to network with old friends as well as the chance to meet new. It also provided a chance to hear an overview of the chamber’s efforts in 2011 under the leadership of Huyla Jackson and to hear about the future from Wayne King, incoming chair for 2012.
There were many well deserved recognitions as part of this event as well. They were as follows:
- Mayor Scott Padgett and Mayor Bob Misenheimer were awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Chamber followed by a video presentation from Governor Perdue awarding both gentleman the “Order of the Long Leaf Pine” award.
- Steve Morris was awarded the “Citizen ofthe Year” award for his exceptional service to our community over the years.
- Racing Electronics was awarded the “Small Business of the Year” award.
- Daniel Smith was awarded the “Ambassador of the Year” award.
- The City of Concord, City of Kannapolis, Embassy Suites and Moose Pharmacy all received Sustainability Awards in addition to Dakeita Vanderburg Johnson receiving recognition for her leadership with this effort.
We invite you to enjoy this video highlights of the activities. You will see clips from the presentations as well as photos of attendees enjoying the opportunity to “meet and greet” . Most importantly you will hear some of the great accomplishments of the chamber in 2011 and enjoy the presentations mentioned above.
